Description
SEARCH FOR THE DICE MAN, first published by Harper-Collins in England in 1993 and with a new edition in 1999, has been published in an additional five European countries. It will receive its first American publication in 2003. This sequel to The Dice Man tells the story of the Dice man’s son Larry being forced to search for his father, who has disappeared for the last twenty years. The conservative son sets out rejecting all that his father stood for, but his search –especially in one of his father’s still-existing Dice Communes –profoundly and hilariously changes him.
The book was written to explore how people intrigued by the ideas of dice-living might create a community in which multiple role-playing is taken as the norm, where each person is expected to change jobs regularly, even change families regularly–on a chance basis. When Larry and his fiancee Honoria find they must spend several days living in this “Dice Commune” called “Lukedom” the uptight Larry discovers that he has a lot more in common with his renegade father than he ever suspected.
